Duke honored Jeff Capel Jr, a retired D-1 coach and father of assistant Jeff Capel III, at Saturday’s game against Wake Forest by making him honorary coach for the day where he sat on the bench along side his son.
Capel III, wrote a touching message on Instagram thanking Coach K and the Duke basketball family for allowing him to share this special moment with his father who is suffering from ALS, better known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
Coach K also talked about the honor with the press after the game.
