Charles Johnson is most known for imposing his will against opposing offensive linemen on the field, but what many don’t know is the Carolina Panthers’ defensive end has become quite the business man off of it. He currently owns several businesses, including a cleaning company, retail stores and has plans to open a restaurant in Uptown Charlotte. Today, he started the chapter on his latest venture with a lavish ribbon cutting to commemorate the opening of a new affordable housing complex in Columbia, South Carolina.

The first phase of the affordable housing family project called the Village at Rivers Edge, will consist of 124 two- and three-bedroom housing units. The development will also feature a community building with programming space, an outdoor gazebo and a children’s play area. Future phases are planned to include an additional 26 affordable townhouse units and a 48-unit affordable apartment building for elderly residents.
Salute.
