Carolina Blitz reported last week that there was a rumor that Duke point guard Derryck Thornton planned to transfer. Sunday, the rumor was confirmed and Thornton’s uncle/trainer took to twitter to blast the basketball program and its coaches.

Funny thing about Duke is when I would see the Assistant coaches on the Recruiting Trail, they were not even friendly or cool…

Duke Coaches walk by and don't even give a #What'sUp

I don't know Coach K personally and this isn't an all out attack on his personal Character, I'm just saying #TheyLied

Young boy worked on Ball Screens against Pro Players, shot jumpers off the dribble for hours but was only used in Pick & Roll 20+ times?!

What a tacky attempt at getting attention and twitter followers. If Mark Edwards was really worried about his “nephew’s” future he wouldn’t bring negative attention to an already sensitive situation. This type of recklessness will follow a player. Recruits and general managers will remember this rant when they’re looking at Thornton as a NBA prospect. NO professional organization wants to worry about a member of a player’s family or entourage going on social media rants.
I wish Thornton the best. I’m sure where ever he goes he will do well, but he has to keep his people in check. Maybe “Uncle,” and not the Duke coaches, is really the one he should worry about using him.
