When Dave Gettleman got to the Panthers in 2013, the team had many of the pieces that would eventually carry them to the Super Bowl, but franchise was a mess financially. But with a couple of moves that originally pissed off fans (the releasing of Steve Smith) and the addition of a few key players (Trai Turner, Kelvin Benjamin and Kawann Short) the Carolina Panthers were the NFL’s best team last year.
In recognition of his accomplishments, Sporting News has named Gettleman Executive of the Year.
“It’s humbling, It’s a blessing. I really believe this is truly an organizational award.”
Now the hard part begins for Gettleman and company…getting back to the Super Bowl.
