Carolina alumni Scott Nurkin started painting this incredible mural of Hall of Fame coach Dean Smith two days after his death. As it nears completion, Nutkin says he doesn’t think about the time or money it’s cost him to complete. He simply calls it his “Passion Project.”
The mural can be viewed at the intersection of Smith Level Road and 15-501 in Chapel Hill.
