Roy Williams had to be escorted off the court after collapsing during Tuesday night’s game against Boston College.
Williams, who assured the media he’s ok, did not return to coach the remainder of the Tar Heels’ 68-65 victory, but did come back on the court at the end of the game to shake BC’s head coach Jim Christian’s hand.
“I’m alive. I’m kicking,” Williams said afterward. “I’ve had some vertigo attacks over the last 17 or 18 years. This is the first time I really had one during a game. I said something to the referee. I didn’t respond correctly to his response. I kind of whirled around, and that’s when it hit.”
Williams is expected to be back on the sidelines for the Tar Heels next game Sunday against Pitt.
