Mike Tolbert on Manning Retiring with Super Bowl Win: He’s Had Enough

One of the major story lines of this year’s Super Bowl is Peyton Manning and the possibility of him riding off into the sunset by ending his Hall of Fame career with a Super Bowl victory.  It’s a great narrative, but if you think the Carolina Panthers want to be on the other end of it, you’ve got another thought coming.

“We don’t really care if this is his last game,” Panthers fullback Mike Tolbert said. “He’s played what – 18, 19 years? He’s had enough, you know what I’m saying? It’s our turn.”

Safety Tre Boston shared the same sentiment.

“So if a man has the last piece of pizza in the world, are you going to take that last piece?” Boston asked. “One of y’all got to live! One of us has to win, and I’m not trying to lose. It’s you and that one man. You gonna live or not? I’m trying to win. I don’t care who you are.”

Everyone on this Panthers team is hungry, and if it so happens that Manning is able to write the perfect ending to his story, it won’t be because Carolina laid down and let him do it.
