RALEIGH – North Carolina State football coach Dave Doeren vowed to build a fence around North Carolina. So far, so good.
On Saturday, Doeren received a verbal commitment from Mallard Creek senior Thaddeus Moss. Moss, who played tight end and defensive end for the Mavericks, is the son of former NFL receiver Randy Moss.
The younger Moss transfered to Mallard Creek before his senior year and helped lead them to a third consecutive NCHSAA 4AA championship. At 6-foot-4, 240 pounds, Moss is ranked the No. 18 ranked TE in the nation, according to 247Sports. He’s the 17th best player in the state.
Moss is a 4-star recruit and the highest ranking recruit in the current Wolfpack class. He had a laundry list of Division I schools showing interest, picking NCSU over Texas A&M. Moss picking the Pack marks the second year Doeren was able to keep top-flight talent in state.
Last year Nyheim Hines, of Garner, and Prineton’s Johnny Frasier each turned down offers from bigger programs outside of North Carolina to play for the Wolfpack.
