Duke and UNC Big Men Out Indefinitely with Injuries

The injury bug has hit ACC rivals Duke and North Carolina.

It was announced Monday that Duke senior forward Amile Jefferson will be out indefinitely with a foot injury.

“This injury is unfortunate, to say the least, but Amile is strong in both person and character,” Mike Krzyzewski said Monday. “He will continue to be an integral part of this team, and we will support him fully as he rehabs this foot injury.”

North Carolina will also be without forward Kennedy Meeks, who is recovering from a bone bruise on his left knee.  He’s expected to be sidelined at least a couple of weeks.

University of North Carolina junior forward Kennedy Meeks will not play for several weeks due to a bone bruise on his left knee. Meeks will not be in the lineup beginning with Carolina’s game on Wednesday, December 16th, vs. Tulane.

Doctors have not determined how long Meeks will be out, although they expect that he will miss at least two weeks of action.

These are huge blows to both college hoops programs are they gear up for ACC play.  Jefferson, a team captain and emotional leader for the Blue Devils has averaged 11.4 points and 10.3 rebounds so far the season.  Meeks, who has stepped up his post play this season, has averaged 12.3 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.
