Newest Panther Cortland Finnegan On How Steph Curry Helped Him Stay in Shape

In an effort to improve their depth at nickel corner with Charles Tillman nursing a knee injury, the Carolina Panthers have signed veteran cornerback Cortland Finnegan – who announced his retirement in March after 11 seasons, but never filed the official paperwork.

The Charlotte Observer’s Jonathan Jones asked Finnegan how he remained in shape despite not playing and received a very interesting answer.

“It’s part of your DNA after so many years of football. I actually picked up my basketball game a little bit. Being light-skinned you think you’re Steph Curry. He’s hurting us right now because I go to the gym thinking I can shoot better than I can.”

Curry may not have helped Finnegan’s jump shot, but hopefully his inspiration has help keep him in shape enough to make a positive impact on the Panthers’ secondary.
