With Steve Spurrier’s abrupt departure, South Carolina is in the market for a new head coach and based on an recent interview with Paul Finebaum former Texas coach Mack Brown may be ready to throw his hat in the ring for the job.

Many have said that the Gamecocks need to steer away from hiring older coaches with big names and search for a young hungry coach who will be able to build the program and stay around for years to come.  But all roads will have to run through interim coach Shawn Elliott.  If he makes a good case for himself by winning, school officials may make him their guy.
