NC State’s Shadrach Thornton has Another Brush with the Law

Raleigh – North Carolina State running back Shadrach Thornton had another brush with the law Tuesday night in Raleigh. Thornton was riding a scooter on Western Boulevard when he struck pedestrian Jimmie Woodard around 9:00 p.m. Thornton was charged with failure to stop and render aid and failure to provide information, and posted a $500 bond.

Thornton has made quite the name for himself while at NC State – and not in a good way.  In the summer of 2013, he was involved with a physical altercation with his girlfriend and was was charged with assaulting a female.

Thornton has been cited twice with possession of marijuana, once in December 2013 and again in March 2014- those charges were later dismissed. Earlier this season, the running back was suspended for two games for violating team rules. University officials did not release why he had to serve  the suspension.

What does coach Doeren do now with Thornton?  It will be interesting to see if he gets another suspension or is dismissed from the team. With so many violations and run-ins with the law, the speculation is he will be released from the team. If Doeren wants to run a class program, the precedent has to be set by doing the right thing with Thornton – giving him his walking papers. Some guys don’t get it, no matter how many chances they get.

*****Update*****

NC State has officially dismissed Thornton from the team.
