UNC Receiver Suggests Halftime Basketball Game to Get Fans to Show Up at Stadium

What?  You mean to tell me the “wine and cheese” crowd doesn’t show up for football games?

Athletes love to feel the support of the fan-base they represent.  The roar of the crowd often provides another level of excitement and encouragement for the players, but UNC football players aren’t feeling the love from Tar Heel faithful and wide receiver Bug Howard called them out on it.

He ain’t lying.  Basketball is king in Carolina country.  If you’re a football player who came to Chapel Hill hoping to play in a packed out stadium with crazed fans, you came to the wrong place.  Tar Heel football will never get the attention the basketball team gets.  It lacks the tradition, championships and hall of fame players that the basketball program touts, but that’s no excuse for fans not showing up.  Even Roy Williams had to call out the “wine and cheese” UNC fans.

Others participated in the trolling of Tar Heel fans, including basketball player Brice Johnson.

Maybe Bug Williams putting them on blast will help, but I doubt it.  The only thing that will encourage football fans to show up is the establishment of a winning tradition.
