Former NC State Football Standout Lost 2 Fingers In Fireworks Accident

CJ Wilson, former Wolfpack standout and current cornerback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, lost two fingers in a July 4th fireworks accident.  Wilson was in his hometown of Lincolnton, North Carolina when it happened.

Tampa Bay issued a statement Wednesday about the incident.

“We are aware that C.J. was involved in an accident that occurred over the July 4th holiday,” the team said in a statement. “It is our understanding that the injury occurred to one of his hands, and our primary concern at this moment is for his long-term health. We have been in contact with C.J. and are continuing to monitor the situation.”

If you’ve been keeping count, this is the second reported injury sustained by a NFL player related to holiday fireworks.  Giants’ star defensive end Jason Pierre Paul severely injured his hand on the 4th also and it’s been reported that he had to have a finger amputated.
