Soccer is one of the fastest growing sports in this country, and with that growth comes expansion in the form of professional sports. Charlotte will now join the growing list of places to have a professional soccer team when the Charlotte Independence host their inaugural match March 27th.
The Charlotte Independence joined USL as an expansion team in September 2014. The team, owned and operated by Queen City Soccer Club LLC, will begin play in the spring of 2015. The goal of Queen City S.C. is to make Charlotte a better place to live by being the premier sports and entertainment company in our region through annual increases in both the quality and quantity of the events we provide for our community.
The team, which is owned and operated by a group led by the President of Major League Lacrosse’s Charlotte Hounds, will take on the Charleston Battery at Transamerica Field on the campus of UNC Charlotte.
Game time is Friday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster and cost $15 if purchased online (taxes and fees not included). They will also be available on game day for $20 at the box office.
All seating for matches at Transamerica Field will be general admission, with a preferred area reserved for season ticket holders.
