Early Saturday morning, former Gamecock defensive back Victor Hampton was arrested in Charlotte for driving under the influence. Now, after signing with the Ravens in recent weeks, the team has decided to part ways with the troubled player.
Hampton, who is from the Charlotte area, participated in some of this weekend’s CIAA festivities. He was pulled over and subsequently arrested after he was clocked going 100 mph in a 55 mph zone on I-77 South. Hampton’s blood alcohol content was .10. The legal limit in North Carolina is .08. If given another chance by an NFL team, Victor could face a two-game suspension.
It’s disappointing when talented players, like Hampton, squander their professional hopes due to things that are totally preventable. Coming out of South Carolina, some thought he would be an early-round selection, but he went un-drafted largely due to off-field concerns. He saw no playing time as a rookie.
