The Carolina’s aren’t known for boxing, but that isn’t stopping one of the best boxers in history from coming here to fight.
On March 7th, Roy Jones Jr. will participate in Charlotte’s Night of Champions – as the 46-year-old boxer looks to regain a world title.
“I think I have a couple more good fights in me, and then I’m going to fight for the title.”
The event is part of a 3-day event in the Queen City where Jones Jr. will visit local children’s charities, host a golf tournament and fight in the main event.
The Night of Champions series includes three full days of events beginning Thursday, March 5th with Roy Jones Jr. making appearances at the Celebrity Charity Wishes, Inc (a 501 c 3 NC children’s charitable organization) Bears for Buddies program, where celebrities deliver teddy bears, smiles and love to children and their families battling terminal illness at Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte and Levine Children’s Hospital of Charlotte.
On Friday, March 6th, Jones Jr. will kick off the first annual Celebrity Charity Celebrity Wishes Golf Tournament, featuring NFL and NBA players, along with other prominent Charlotteans playing to raise funds for multiple local children’s charities. At 5pm, the Charlotte Regional Boxing Authority will weigh-in, for the first time ever a World Championship belt holder – Roy Jones, Jr. and his opponent just prior to the big day.
And on Saturday, March 7th is the Main Event at Carolina Brawl III – Night of Champions, Roy Jones Jr. will square off in a 12-round bout making history here in the Queen City.
