Seattle Suburb Bans Cheese Ahead of Packers Game

Seattle Suburb Bans Cheese

It’s NFL Championship weekend and the Seattle Seahawks will face the Green Bay Packers in hopes of making a back-to-back Super Bowl appearance.  In an attempt to show their support for the home team, Bainbridge Island, a Seattle suburb, has banned cheese.

“On Sunday, January 18, 2015, the Seattle Seahawks opponent in the NFC Championship game will be the Green Bay Packers, aka Cheeseheads,” the order states. “Fans of the Green Bay Packers are frequently seen wearing obnoxious wedge-shaped foam hats painted yellow.” It is “due to this relationship” between Packers fans and cheese that the ban was enacted.

Just in case you’re wondering how this ban would be enforced…it only applied to City Hall employees on Friday, but I love the idea none the less.  If I was a Seahawks fan I probably would’ve given up cheese for the entire weekend.

Green Bay and Seattle will play for the NFC Championship this Sunday at 3:05pm.
