GamecockPride.com reported that former Florida Head Coach Will Muschamp was hired by Steve Spurrier to lead South Carolina’s defense.
A Source has confirmed that Will Muschamp will be South Carolina‘s new Defensive Coordinator. Sealing the deal is the opportunity to be South Carolina’s Head Coach when Spurrier retires. Muschamp plans to bring several of his defensive coaches fromFlorida.
Muschamp’s estimated salary will be $1.6 – $1.9 million.
Spurrier denied the report this morning.

Usually, where there’s smoke there’s fire. For some reason I believe this and wouldn’t be surprised if it was officially announced within the next two weeks. Muschamp is on vacation and hasn’t commented on the rumor.
