Carolina looked abysmal last night against the Eagles, but if I had to pinpoint one area that was especially bad it was the offensive line play. Cam Newton was sacked a career-high nine times and looked lethargic, causing many to question his health.
“I’m great. That’s not going to be a distraction. Yeah, I got hit a lot today, but it’s all in the game. We’re not playing ballet. We’re not running track or anything. This is a physical sport. It’s what you sign up for.”
Ron Rivera also refuted rumors Newton was hurt.
“I’m not sure where all that came from. But put it to rest. He said it at his press conference after the game, he’s fine. I’m taking him for his word. … The doctors have nothing on it. The trainers have nothing on it.”
Newton may be fine, but the Panthers aren’t. Last night was embarrassing. The offensive line was embarrassing, the defense was embarrassing, special teams were embarrassing, there was nothing positive to take away from that Monday Night experience. I’m not sure where Carolina goes from here.
