Michael Jordan and the Charlotte Hornets have brought the buzz back and in celebration of the return of the team’s original namesake, a ton of festivities and giveaways are planned for opening night.
“Our organization is brimming with excitement in preparation for next week’s home opener,” said Hornets President & COO Fred Whitfield. “Our first game as the Charlotte Hornets is one of the most anticipated events in the rich history of Charlotte sports and we look forward to sharing this special night with our fans.”
Fans who attend the October 29th game will receive a tuxedo themed t-shirt in honor of the fans who wore tuxedos to opening night in 1988 to celebrate the city’s first professional sports team, and encased commemorative ticket, a “Ridiculous Rag” rally towel, and glow sticks. In addition to all of the goodies, some members from the original 1988-89 team and special guests will be on hand.
