Finance Buzz did a survey of 1,500 fans from all 32 teams to find out which group spends the most money on game day. Panthers’ Nation came in dead last in two major categories – stadium concessions and alcohol.
Carolina faithful spend less than half of what the average NFL fan does on game day. Does this mean that the home team is cheap or just smart consumers – given the food and beverage markup that occurs in all stadiums? I’ll say the latter. The Panthers have a very robust tailgating scene where fans eat and drink before heading into Bank of America stadium to check out a game – surely a contributing factor to the low numbers.
Panthers’ Nation is far from cheap. They just know it’s better to eat good and get sauced before you go into the game and then maintain inside if necessary.
